Septic systems should be pumped regularly as part of your maintenance program. Over time solids can build up and eventually overwhelm the system and migrate into areas that will cause effectiveness to be impaired, or even cause damage to your system.
Single tank systems with a leachfield will have a tank with two compartments in it. Pumping the tank requires that the pumper have access to both sides of the tank, therefore at least two lids will need to be uncovered.
Two-tank systems, or Land Application systems will have two tanks. The first is a two compartment tank and the second may be either a two or one compartment tank. Pumping this type of system requires that the pumper have access to all compartments, therefore at least three and usually four lids will need to be uncovered.
Some tanks have disappeared into the back yard and no one knows exactly where. We are prepared for these occasions and have a [
pipeline camera ] with a locator on the end.
